Mikumi National Park
Overview
Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible and wildlife-rich national parks, located in the southern safari circuit. Often referred to as “the Serengeti of the South”, Mikumi offers wide open savannah plains, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes, making it ideal for short safaris, first-time visitors, and family trips.
Covering approximately 3,230 square kilometers, the park is part of the greater Selous ecosystem and is famous for excellent game viewing throughout the year.
Location
Mikumi National Park lies along the Dar es Salaam – Iringa highway, about 283 km west of Dar es Salaam. It can be reached easily by road or short domestic flights, making it one of Tanzania’s most convenient safari destinations.
