Nyerere National Park (Selous)

Overview

Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve, is Africa’s largest national park and one of Tanzania’s most pristine wilderness areas. Named after Tanzania’s founding father Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the park offers a truly wild and exclusive safari experience far from the crowds of the northern circuit.

Covering over 30,000 square kilometers, Nyerere National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of one of the most important ecosystems in East Africa.

Location

Nyerere National Park is located in southern Tanzania, approximately 230 km southwest of Dar es Salaam. The park is accessible by road, scheduled flights, and charter aircraft, making it ideal for fly-in or road safari adventures.
